Frame is welded steel with rods in chrome or bonded risen and is available in a variety of finishes, the frame is scratch, stain and chip resistant with stainless steel connections and four plastic glides. This is a new production by Knoll made in Italy about 1999. There are no breaks in the welds, the upholstery has no stains and the covers have been recently professionally cleaned, the glides are still intact, screws are firmly in place, and the frame itself is in excellent condition. These are truly exemplary Bertoia diamond chairs. Attached are pictures that accurately show these chairs conditions. Not all of our Bertoia chairs have a Knoll stamp as they are loosely fitted. Frames are polished chrome and come with either Flax (2 in stock), Unidentified Green Classic Boucle (6 in stock), or Black Iris fabric full covers (4 in stock). We also have chairs without covers (1 in stock) and with a seat pad from Knoll Textiles with a satin finish frame instead of chrome (11 in stock). Finally we have chairs with leather pads from Bertoia Pads (2 in stock). These were manufactured by Knoll Studios, which is an American brand, however these particular chairs were made in Italy. List price $2,476, our price $750 each. Our price without covers is $405 (1 in stock). Get your pads for coverless chairs here at BertoiaPads.com.
"Harry Bertoia’s 1950 experiment with bending metal rods into practical art produced a revered collection of seating, including the exquisite Large Diamond chair. Innovative, comfortable and strikingly handsome, the chair’s delicate filigree appearance belies its strength and durability. In Bertoia’s own words, “If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes through them.”
